Editing a Message Template Before Launch

The following procedures outline the process to edit a message template before launch.

 

Specify the Variable Value
  • One or more message templates are configured.
  • A variable during message template configuration in Engineering mode is specified.
  • System Manager is in Operating mode.
  1. In System Browser, select Application View.
  1. Select Applications > Notification > Notification Templates.
  • A list of available notification templates folders, message templates, and live announcement templates displays.
  1. Select the message template.
  1. Select the Initiate Incident tab.
  1. Open the Selected notifications expander.
  1. Select the message template.
  1. Select Message Content and Control.
  1. Select Show Text Content.
  1. Select the variable from the Variable column and specify the corresponding value in the Value column.

 

Specify the Audio Content
  • One or more message templates are configured.
  • System Manager is in Operating mode.
  1. In System Browser, select Application View.
  1. Select Applications > Notification > Notification Templates.
  • A list of available templates displays.
  1. Select the message template.
  1. Select the Initiate Incident tab.
  1. Open the Selected notifications expander.
  1. Select the message template.
  1. Select Message Content and Control.
  1. Select Show audio content.
  1. Click Browse.
  • The Open dialog box displays.
  1. Select the corresponding location and select the audio file.
    NOTE: Notification supports MP3 and WAV audio formats. WAV is a supported format for all audio devices except Media Controller.
  1. Click Open.
  • The selected audio file is uploaded.

 

Specify the Multimedia Content
  • One or more message templates are configured.
  • System Manager is in Operating mode.
  1. In System Browser, select Application View.
  1. Select Applications > Notification > Notification Templates.
  • A list of available templates displays.
  1. Select the message template.
  1. Select the Initiate Incident tab.
  1. Open the Selected notifications expander.
  1. Select the message template.
  1. Select Message Content and Control.
  1. Select Show multimedia content.
  1. Click Browse.
  • The Open dialog box displays.
  1. Select the corresponding location and select the multimedia file.
    NOTE: The Repetitions and Interval (sec) settings in the Multimedia Content section are not used by any of the currently supported device types.
  1. Click Open.
  • The selected multimedia file is uploaded.

NOTE: The BrightSign Media Controller supports the following file formats. For more information on the BrightSign Media Controller, refer to the Media Controller Integration section.

  • Audio Files
    • AAC (LC - Low complexity profile) at a Constant Bit Rate, as part of a video file (.mp4, .mov, or .ts) at 44.1 KHz, 48 KHz
    • MP2 (MPEG-1 Layer 2) at a Constant Bit Rate, as part of a video file (.mpg or .ts) at 44.1 KHz, 48 KHz
    • MP3 at a Constant Bit Rate (44.1 KHz, 48 KHz, or 32 KHz at up to a bit rate of 224 Kbps) as a standalone file (not encoded as an audio track in a video file)
    • AC3 5.1 passed through (un-decoded, RAW data) HDMI. Audio streams in this format are supported by BrightSign players, but will require an AC3 decoder (HDMI AV receiver)
    • WAV
  • Video Files
    • MPEG-2 - Can be saved as an .mpg, .ts, .m2ts or .vob container.
    • MPEG-1 - Can be saved as an .mpg container.
    • (4K models only) H.265 (HEVC) - Can be saved as an .ts, .mov, or .mkv container
    • H.264 (MPEG-4, Part 10) - Can be saved as a .mp4, .mov, or .ts container
    • WMV - .wmv video only files (.wma audio files are not supported). Support includes videos exported from PowerPoint
  • NOTE:
    The .mov files with compressed atoms (metadata) are not currently supported.

  • Image Files
    • JPG
    • BMP
    • PNG

The maximum supported resolution is 1920x1080.

NOTE:
BrightSign devices do not support JPEG image files with CMYK color profiles.

Add Recipients
  • One or more configured message templates are configured.
  • System Manager is in Operating mode.
  1. In System Browser, select Application View.
  1. Select Applications > Notification > Notification Templates.
  • A list of available templates displays.
  1. Select the message template.
  1. Select the Initiate Incident tab.
  1. Open the Selected notifications expander.
  1. Select the message template.
  1. Select Message Content and Control.
  1. Select Show recipients content.
  1. Select the recipients from the available recipients list or click Show contact list and select the recipients from the contact list.

 

Specify Control Options
  • One or more configured message templates are configured.
  • System Manager is in Operating mode.
  1. In System Browser, select Application View.
  1. Select Applications > Notification > Notification Templates.
  • A list of available templates displays.
  1. Select the message template.
  1. Select the Initiate Incident tab.
  1. Open the Selected notifications expander.
  1. Select the message template.
  1. Select the Message Content and Control.
  1. Select Show control options content.
  1. Edit the required fields.

 

Schedule Content

This functionality is available only for Reno Plus and MNS license users.

  • One or more message templates are configured.
  • System Manager is in Operating mode.
  1. In System Browser, select Application View.
  1. Select Applications > Notification > Notification Templates.
  • A list of available templates displays.
  1. Select the message template.
  1. Select the Initiate Incident tab.
  1. Open the Selected notifications expander.
  1. Select the message template.
  1. Select Message Content and Control.
  1. Select Show schedule content.
  1. Edit the required fields.

 

Select Channel

This functionality is available only for Reno Plus and MNS license users.

  • One or more message templates are configured.
  • System Manager is in Operating mode.
  1. In System Browser, select Application View.
  1. Select Applications > Notification > Notification Templates.
  • A list of available templates displays.
  1. Select the message template.
  1. Select the Initiate Incident tab.
  1. Open the Selected notifications expander.
  1. Select the message template for editing the channel selection.
  1. Select Message Content and Control.
  1. Select Show channel selection content.
  1. Modify the channel selection options as per the requirements.
  • The notification template with modified channel selection is ready for launching.
